We are a team of students between grades 7 and 11 passionate about robotics. This is our first year participating in the FIRST ROBOTICS PROGRAM, a robotics competition which encourages high schools to build a robot and compete with other teams. In 6 weeks we get to design, build, and program a robot from a kit of materials.

 

Our team is facilitated by amazing teachers and mentors. FIRST means For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology and we can definitely say that we have been inspired through this competition! In our rookie competition we were able to finish in the quarter finals at the Beta Bots competition. This success celebrated our team spirit, our discipline, and our ingenuity.

 

The robotics team provides students with experience in a structured environment in computer science, engineering, participation in competitions, while learning important life skills about teamwork, and leadership, as well as developing a camaraderie and generosity with other teams. It has been proven that students involved in this program are not only less likely to drop out of school but also enroll in careers in related fields.
